Author J. Ryan Stradal and singer-songwriter Darryl Holter at Beyond Baroque in Venice, CA

Friday, December 6, 2019
8:00pm to 10:00pm

At Chevalier’s Books we recently featured one of my favorite authors and fellow Minnesotan, J. Ryan Stradal, who read from new best-selling novel, The Lager Queen of Minnesota. JR and I became friends and I shared some personal stories from my days in Minneapolis.

And one day he asked me to join him in a literary event at Beyond Baroque in Venice. “You can do anything you like, Darryl,” JR told me. So I decided to talk about the vibrant music scene that emerged on the West Bank of the Mississippi River in the late ‘60s. I’ll do some reading and songs from my second album, West Bank Gone. Besides J. R. we will hear from two great authors, Susan Straight and Lou Matthews.
